Dear Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Students: The words “All Hands On Deck“ is more crucial now, than ever before. As a school community family, please continue to help keep our students, faculty/staff, and our families safe. We are taking precautionary measures to ensure that our buildings are sanitized wiped down, disinfectant sprayed and use our Ozone machines. We are actively responsive to any positive cases and/or close contacts in our schools. In all scenarios, we will keep safety at the forefront to protect our students and staff. Currently, the schools along with the District Office is handling COVID situations as they occur expeditiously. This upcoming week, we will have specified COVID Point of Contacts names and information to be provided to you. Upcoming, the HWHSD website will have pertinent information for you to view and a Zoom parent meeting to introduce our Point of Contact (POC) staffers. We are deeply grateful for your diligence in contacting the schools to report your child(ren) status and we continue to ask that you not send your child(ren) to school if he/she is sick. Please talk to your child(ren) about the importance of wearing masks in an effort to protect self and to keep each of us healthy. I will continue to keep you informed of any development as it relates to this health matter. Sincerely, Superintendent Linda English

While there have been no diagnosed, confirmed cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Phillips County at this time, please know that we are monitoring the situation closely. In the event that an outbreak does occur, it is possible that the school will be closed for a period of time. As with any school closure, advanced notification is always preferred so that we can provide families with ample time to secure child care. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee we will have prior knowledge before the need to make a closure announcement. In the event that school is closed, we will be using AMI Days for the first nine days missed. This is not to suggest or predict that none or more days will be missed. As of now, the best protection we can take is to approach this as if we are trying to avoid contacting the seasonal flu. Please remember the following: • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. • Always was hands for at least twenty seconds. • Cover coughs and sneezes. • Do not share food or drinks. • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces. Do not return to school after sickness until 24 hours fever-free without the use of fever reducing medication and 24 hours free of vomiting. As we monitor the situation, we will continue to receive guidance and resources from the ADE, CDC, and ADH to assist us in providing an appropriate response. Providing a safe environment for our students, faculty, and staff is and will always be our top priority. We will keep our families updated as new information becomes available.
