This Registration period is for Kindergarten, new students , and all returning students. ALL students must register to be placed on a classroom roster. We are asking that you return your child's library books to the school at your earliest convenience . You can place them in the Library box by the AMI packets. If you checked out a Chromebook, those were due on May 20th. If your child does not turn in library books or Chromebooks their report card will not be available for pick-up until those items have been returned. The Helena-West Helena School District will remain closed under the advisement of Governor Asa Hutchinson. Governor Hutchinson announced today, April 6th, that schools would remain closed for on-site instruction through the remainder of 2019-2020 school year, and learning would continue through Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) for the remainder of the year. Schools leaders will continue to provide updated communication to parents on AMI packets (distribution and collection), google classroom lessons, Zoom instruction and other instructional resources. The Helena-West Helena School District will continue to provide meals at J. F. Wahl Elementary Monday-Thursday from 9:30 am -11:30 a.m.

The Helena-West Helena School District will provide lunches on Tuesday and Thursdays at J.F.Wahl Elementary beginning Tuesday, March 31. On Tuesday and Thursday of each week, students will be provided with two days worth of meals. The meals will cover the following days. Meals on Tuesday will be for Tuesday and Wednesday. Meals on Thursday will be for Thursday and Friday.

While there have been no diagnosed, confirmed cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Phillips County at this time, please know that we are monitoring the situation closely. In the event that an outbreak does occur, it is possible that the school will be closed for a period of time. As with any school closure, advanced notification is always preferred so that we can provide families with ample time to secure child care. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee we will have prior knowledge before the need to make a closure announcement. In the event that school is closed, we will be using AMI Days for the first nine days missed. This is not to suggest or predict that none or more days will be missed. As of now, the best protection we can take is to approach this as if we are trying to avoid contacting the seasonal flu. Please remember the following: • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. • Always was hands for at least twenty seconds. • Cover coughs and sneezes. • Do not share food or drinks. • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces. Do not return to school after sickness until 24 hours fever-free without the use of fever reducing medication and 24 hours free of vomiting. As we monitor the situation, we will continue to receive guidance and resources from the ADE, CDC, and ADH to assist us in providing an appropriate response. Providing a safe environment for our students, faculty, and staff is and will always be our top priority. We will keep our families updated as new information becomes available.
